Applying gel polish seems simple, but many nail art beginners encounter problems such as uneven color, noticeable brush strokes, and excessive gel.

In fact, the problems often lie in the application technique.

1. Brush at too much angle to the nail
This can easily lead to:
Uncontrolled application of polish
Gel spillage at the edges
Uneven color buildup

2. Chaotic application motion
Repeated back-and-forth, haphazard brushing will result in:
Noticeable brush marks
Uneven color
Uneven thickness of each layer

3. Excessive pressure during application
Pressing the brush too hard will:
Squeeze polish onto the nail edge
Destroy the self-leveling effect of the polish
Affect the overall smoothness

✅ Correct way to apply gel polish (step by step)

Step 1: Control the brush angle
Keep the brush at approximately a 30–45° angle to the nail.Gently touch the nail surface.Do not completely flatten the brush bristles.

Step 2: Start from the middle
Make a single stroke forward from the innermost part of the middle of the nail.Then brush forward from both sides.Keep the motion steady and in the same direction.

Step 3. Light pressure, small amount of gel:

The brush should "float" on the nail surface. 

Let the gel flow naturally, rather than being "pushed" out.

A thin coat is more important than a thick one.

Step 4. Check the edges and trim promptly:

Observe the nail edges after application.

If there is excess gel, gently trim it with a cleaning brush.

Then proceed to the curing step.
